What’s New

Over the summer I’ve been busy preparing for a new show opening on September 23 at Maine-Art in Kennebunk, Maine. In addition to several new fishermen and lobstermen paintings there will be some recent Maine inspired landscape/harbor scenes. Last October I spent a couple weeks based in Owls Head just wandering around, exploring, taking pictures, making sketches and just taking in “Maine”. Out of that came several paintings involving low tide mudflats and spindly pole wharves.

I’ve also been experimenting recently with painting with oil on prepared watercolor paper. I love the texture of cold-pressed paper, the way the paint moves around on it and the deckle edges. I’ll have a few of those out to the Cove Gallery in Wellfleet on Cape Cod where I’ll be during Columbus Day weekend. I’ll be staying out there for a week or so afterwards and hope to come up with some fresh ideas to work on over the winter to have ready for next season.

Oh!..and also there’s this brand new website. In the past couple years I’ve received many email requests for giclee prints beyond the small ones that had been on my old site, many of which were really old work that had been there for years.  Now there’s a much improved selection of much more recent work and the convenience of a shopping cart system. Please take a look.

Thanks for visiting.

About David

My work springs from my love of the seacoast and fascination with people make a living from its waters. The images are not descriptive of any particular person or place. They are meant to be generic, symbolic and iconic and are based on years of internalized accumulated experiences and memories of exploring salty shores from both land and water.
